On "Honky Chateau", an album that was primarily recorded in France, the producer filled out the sound with an exciting electric violin, used very effectively on "Mellow" and "Amy". Elton's piano composition and playing is fabulous as always. Listening again to "Honky Chateau" makes me understand why Elton John became a pop music phenomenon/5().

Reissue of Elton's fifth studio album as part of the initiative to have a greater representation of Elton's catalogue on vinyl in the marketplace, to tie in with the celebrations of Elton's 70th birthday year and 50 years of the writing partnership between Elton John and Bernie Taupin in All tracks remastered from the original analogue tapes by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering, Portland.

Remaster Pressed on g Vinyl! In , Elton John did something that he'd never done before in America – and it was something he hadn't done in his own country yet either. On the US album chart for the week of July 15, Elton's Honky Chateau toppled the Rolling Stones' Exile On Main St from the summit, giving the British singer-songwriter his first No. 1 on either side of the Atlantic.
