While you're waiting for the Great Leap Forwards One leap forwards, two leaps back It’s a musical gem produced when Billy Bragg had just got himself a band, practiced his singing and ended up creating one of the best albums from the late 80s. This was my album of the year in When Billy added a backing band for this album it.

Worth the admission price for 'Waiting for the great leap forwards' alone. But there are a number of other great tracks on here too which previous reviewers have covered in detail, far more eloquently than I can. Both my wife and I love this album, we'd recommend it to anyone interested in Billy Bragg/5(38).

The Essential Billy Bragg Bonus CD, Probably my fav would be "waiting for the great leap forwards", written at the end of the Soviet era and is as relevant today as it was then- in fact when i saw billy live he changes the words to add in references to '45 minutes' and so on.

At some point in your life you have to engage with the fact that you are part of a society. Yeah the individual is the most important facet in society but unless every individual is the recipient of free health care, free education decent affordable housing and a proper pension then only the rich and powerful will be individuals and the rest of us will be exploited by them.

Lyrics to 'Waiting For The Great Leap Forward' by Billy Bragg. It may have been Camelot for Jack and Jacqueline But on the Che Guevara highway filling up with gasoline Fidel Castro's brother spies a rich lady who's crying Over luxury's disappointment So he walks over and he's trying.
