   God Fodder, Ned's Atomic Dustbin's first U.S. release, focused on the hyper punk aspect of England's "grebo" movement, relying on insanely catchy hooks and the band's dual-bass sound to keep things interesting. On Are You Normal?, they've managed to back down a bit and let the dynamics of the basses soak through the rush of power chords that dominate their early work.

   Ned's Atomic Dustbin are an English rock band formed in Stourbridge, West Midlands, in November The band took their name from an episode of radio comedy programme The Goon Show. The band are unusual for using two bass-players in their line-up: Alex Griffin plays melody lines high up on one bass, and Mat Cheslin plays the regular bass lines on the other.

   Such is the case with Not Sleeping Around ep. Just listen to the other tracks and you will see what I mean. First up. after Not Sleeping, is a Tartan Shoulders mix of a song entitled "Cut Up" followed by Scrawl and then a rather electronic dance version of Not Sleeping Around. The 3 aforementioned tunes are outdoing the A side/5(3).

   Are You Normal? was something like the third or fourth CD I ever bought. In those days Ned's Atomic Dustbin actually seemed cool. Even cooler were people who wore Ned's Atomic Dustbin t-shirts. You could tell if someone was hip at school simply by the collective quantity of Ned's, PWEI and Carter t-shirts they had. Ah, such simple times.
